Beautiful, but not functional.

"Upon reading reviews (Katya - great review!) I decided to purchase these shoes for working the floor and not the stage just for something different. I do a lot of pole work on stage so the Flamingo-808 does the trick (all puns intended!). Although these shoes are beautiful, they're not the most functional. I would also rate them functionally about a 6/10. The straps are quite loose around the ankles and walking in them is not as secure as your typical Pleaser heel with a plastic ankle strap. I love the look of these shoes, however, if you're looking for a secure shoe for stage and floor, these are not the ones!"

Eye-catching Elegance / Exotic Cancer Toes

"These shoes are absolutely stunning. I wore them to pole practice and the girls were all asking me where I got them. Aesthetically speaking, they are a 10/10. Functionally speaking, I'd give them a 6/10. I do a lot of gymnastic-type and Russian style exotic moves, and I need my toes to stay firmly in the shoe to avoid derailing my routines. Here's what I found: - As a universal size 6 in Pleasers, I know these are the right fit for my foot shape, usage, and desired look. - The elastic bands feel durable, but my toes fall out of them far too easily. The straps seem to be quite loose--as though they would need to be taken in by an inch to offer proper support. I had to put in extra effort and concentration to keep my feet in place while performing. - I bought these to rotate with my Flamingo-896LC ankle boots, which are the same shoe but with a lace patterned, lace-up covering instead of elastic bands; however, I feel much more secure in the 896LC boots than in these 859 shoes. Potential solutions: - I will be purchasing a pair of Heel Huggers in black to see if they will keep my feet in place - I may further add heel cushioning under the ball of the foot in the shoe. This would create a tighter fit that may help to hold my toes flush with the elastic bands. - I may have to sew my own support device, manually take in the elastic bands, sew the bands together to close gaps, or replace the bands with material to cover the entire dorsal area of the foot. - Worst case: exchange or sell the shoes and re-invest in my go-to Flamingos. - Pleaser could make the straps tighter to begin with :) Overall: would definitely recommend this shoe if you're not doing crazy pole tricks in them. Would still recommend them otherwise, but with a note of caution that they may need additional work done on them before they're safe to use. Beautiful shoes and I'm hoping they work out in the end!"
